Members of the ECS College and Career Committee were excited to offer the following program to students and staff on Friday, March 18th, for Career Awareness Day 2022. A special thank you to Mr. Gehrig, Mrs. King, and Ms. Mendez for leveraging their networks and inviting these guest speakers to Sienna!
In the afternoon, our entire school community participated in a virtual meeting with renowned author R.L. Stine (via Zoom link below). R.L. Stine is the creator of the popular series “Goosebumps.” Stine has also been referred to as the “Stephen King of children’s literature.” Even teachers were super excited for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Following this event, separate sessions were held in-person with our guests depending on student grade level.
The fifth grade and sixth grade students welcomed Mr. Luis Mendez, lead animator for Nick Jr. (Nickelodeon) and learned all about his cool job.
The seventh and eight grade students received an exciting in-person presentation from Deputy Police Chief Dwayne K. Chambers of the Morgan State University Police Department.
Meanwhile, the ninth and tenth grade students learned all about the hiring process with Mr. Matt Karaman, Head of Human Resources, Clever Devices.
Finally, at the end of the day, select students from the younger grades got the chance to be “slimed” with real ooey gooey slime!
