Nassau BOCES NASTECH Service created the Nassau Association of School Technologists Award Recipient (NASTAR) awards to honor individuals or teams for innovation, leadership and support of technology initiatives in their school district.
Last week Mr. Samuel Laloi and Ms. Karen Leeper had the honor of presenting Mr. Harold Gutierrez, 5-10 Music Teacher with this award.
Mr. Gutierrez has seamlessly and consistently incorporated technology into his music classroom and productions. His innovative ideas and initiatives have been appreciated by the school community. Notably, Mr. Gutierrez has created virtual piano tutorials to enable his students to practice at home.
With limitations for in person concerts and assemblies, Mr. Gutierrez created multimedia presentations to be shared and posted to the School’s website. His level of commitment and dedication has been evident with the sophistication of such projects and should be commended.
He has used different software and application programs to synchronize students singing or playing instruments from different locations into one virtual performance.
Mr. Gutierrez can always be counted on to create videos for the school’s special events. His meticulous attention to detail keeps me inspired every day. We currently have morning assemblies titled Musical Wednesdays- where students from his classes are showcased performing a variety of musical genres and instruments.
Mr. Gutierrez’s determination and enthusiasm for his music program has ignited a passion in some of our students. As a result one of our 10th grade students will be studying music abroad over the summer months.
Evergreen Charter School is very lucky to have Mr. Gutierrez on our team.
Thank you Mr. Gutierrez for all that you do!
