The Elementary School Celebrates Earth Day!

Evergreen Charter School’s K-1 Students celebrated Earth Week from April 11th – April 14th. Students were involved in a variety of activities throughout the week that promoted ways to protect our environment.

Clubs & Programs

KIDS FOR KINDNESS CLUB

Purpose: The First Grade Kids for Kindness Club meets in school weekly to discuss how to promote acts of kindness for our Earth, school, family, and friends.

Highlights:

  • The students create posters, organize fundraisers, present at morning assemblies, and much more. Their mission is to spread kindness in school, at home and everywhere they go through acts of kindness big and small.

O.S.C.A.R.S. ENVIRONMENTAL CLUB
O.S.C.A.R.S. – Environmental Club
(Our Students Can Always Reduce, Reuse & Recycle Something) 

The purpose of the club is to create an awareness of environmental issues, such as protection, conservation, preservation, and restoration, with an emphasis on educating and empowering students to help the Earth.

SPANISH CLUB

Purpose: Students have the opportunity to receive extra support for improving their Spanish language skills.

Highlights:

  • Through motivating and engaging activities, the students in the Spanish Club are provided with opportunities to interact and speak to club members, increase their understanding of the language, and receive assistance with classroom assignments.

HOMEWORK HELP PROGRAM (HOMEWORK CLUB)

Purpose: Kindergarten and First Grade students are invited to join the Homework Help Program, also known as the Homework Club.

Highlights:

  • This program provides students with the opportunity to remain in school an additional hour to receive support with the completion of their homework.

Date: This program began Monday, Junary 31, 2022 and will run until the end of the school year.

Time: This program is held Monday through Thursday from 4:00p – 5:00pm.

SATURDAY SCHOOL

Purpose: Kindergarten and First Grade students are invited to participate in our in-person Saturday School Program.

Highlights:

  • This program is designed to support your child in reading.
  • This program has a strong focus on foundational skills, sight words, phonemic awareness (the sounds of a word) and phonics (the relationship of sounds and letters to increase reading fluency).
  • The ability to read accurately, smoothly and with expression will result in increased comprehension.

Date: The program began Saturday, October 23, 2021 and will run until June 18, 2022.

Time: Two sessions are offered:

  • Kindergarten: 8:00am-10:00am
  • First Grade: 10:15am-12:15am
